Little books of Stitchcraft & other yarny dreams.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been knitting on this shawl. I’ve slid back into the fiber world with wild abandon. It has been so healing. It’s hard to believe I stayed away for so long.

A few years ago, I had a hand dyed yarn business and wrote knitting & crochet patterns. It was the most successful business I’ve ever had and I loved it. So why did I stop? So unexpected life shit. I let that biz go and moved on to other things, like painting.

For 2019 I set the goal of following my dreams and desires to create a life that is nourishing and wonderful. Part of that is shifting what I do for work and what my business looks like. I’ve been journaling daily about this new life and that is how yarn slipped back in.

When I had to stop dyeing yarn, I packed up all my tools and supplies, boxed up skeins of yarn that hadn’t sold and shut down my shop. I didn’t knit. I didn’t crochet. Stopped looking a yummy fiber things on instagram and left all the yarn related groups I was in. I totally shut down that part of myself.

Now that I’ve started knitting again, I can’t put it down. I’m so thirsty for it.

What does that have to do with The Myth Project?

I’ve been working on creating some ebooks about healing lessons from myths & stories. I finished the rough draft for the first one and stalled. It stalled because I felt like it needed more, like it was missing something.

Working on this shawl reminded me not only of my love of knitting, but also of how meditative and healing fiber work is. Plus it the bonus of fitting so nicely into the life and business that I’m focused on creating.

Now I want to add knitting/crochet to these ebooks. This adds to the healing and magic of this work. You know how awesome you feel when you wear your favorite thing? Imagine intentionally creating some wearable magic.

The only downside to this is it will take me longer to get these ebooks (I really need to find something better to call them) created and out into the world. Upside: more fucking yarn.

I’m also working on a new offering for custom knit shawls. It’s fucking exciting. These shawls are infused with magic and are beautiful. More knitting. More crocheting. More yarn. More fucking Delisa.
